Delete your NIX account

Students: delete your account in the app

Open the NIX app, go to Profile, tap Delete account, and confirm. This takes effect immediately.

Guests: delete your account in the app

Guests delete their account the same way students do: open the NIX app, go to Profile, tap Delete account, and confirm. This takes effect immediately.

Deleting a guest account also deletes the scrambled code made from your card and the record of the consent you gave when you signed up, on top of everything listed under What is deleted below. Your code is also deleted sooner if the organizer's guest sign-up ends.

We keep the name you typed, your Guest number, your email, and the record of which of the organizer's events you took part in and whether your phone was away, to serve the organizer that ran those events. We never use them for advertising and never sell them.

To have those removed as well, email contact@nix.management with the subject line Account deletion request and include your name, your Guest number, and the school or organization whose event you signed up for.

School staff: delete your account from your Account page

Principal, counselor, event manager, and Staff scan-only accounts delete themselves. In the NIX app, go to Account and tap Delete account. On the web console, open Account and use the same option. Either one takes effect immediately, and if the account used a team seat, the seat is freed.

Master admins: step down first, or delete the school

A master admin account is the school's owner, so there is no button that deletes it while leaving the school running. Which route you want depends on whether your school has another master admin.

If your school has more than one master admin and you only want your own login gone, you do not have to touch the school. On the web console open Team and use Step down on your own row. That makes you a sub-admin and signs you out, which is expected. Sign back in, open Account, and use Delete my account. The school, its events, and everyone else are untouched.

If you are the last master admin, stepping down is not offered, because a school cannot be left without one. You have two options, and the order matters.

Hand the school over. From Team, transfer ownership to another admin. Do this first: once you are no longer the master admin you no longer have the Team controls, so it cannot be undone by you. Transfer also signs you out. Sign back in as a sub-admin and use Account → Delete my account, or ask the new master admin to remove you from Team.

Or delete the school. On the web console open Settings and use the danger zone. That removes the school and every account that belongs to it, and it cannot be undone. Only do this if the school is genuinely finished with NIX.

If you cannot use the app or the console, email contact@nix.management with the subject line Account deletion request and include your full name, your school, and your student ID or work email. We respond within 30 days.

What is deleted

• Your sign-in is revoked.
• Your account is disabled, so it can no longer be used.
• Your stored location is deleted.
• The location snapshot attached to any past event check-in is deleted.

What is kept, and why

Your school, not NIX, is the owner of your student records. NIX processes them as a school official under FERPA. So we keep your name, your school-issued student ID, any recovery email you added, and your school's attendance and event participation records, for as long as your school uses NIX and needs them for its own records.

We keep them only to serve your school. We never use them for advertising and we never sell them. To have those school records removed, ask your school, which can direct us to delete them, and we will.

Raw location coordinates attached to an event check-in are automatically deleted 90 days after the check-in, whether or not you delete your account.
